I know that 2026 has already been quite heavy.  Hours after I spoke at a Vigil reflecting on the 5th Anniversary of the January 6th insurrection, we heard news that the U.S. had kidnapped the president of another sovereign nation -- and a day after, we watched horrific ICE brutality in Minneapolis. It's been relentless. But at the same time -- I am so inspired and hopeful because of the actions I am seeing

I hope that this first newsletter of the year finds you well-rested, with hope and some optimism for the year to come.  I tried to catch up on some reading during the quieter week between Christmas and New Years -- and read "Life After Cars" and "On Tyranny" -- and am mid-way through Jane Jacobs' "Dark Age Ahead".  What are you reading -- and what should be on my list for 2026?
