Local Leaders Endorse Sue AnderBois for RI Lieutenant Governor

Endorsers praised AnderBois’ bold leadership on big issues facing Rhode Island

Providence, RI, March 5th, 2026: Former Rhode Island State Representative Aaron Regunberg, Former Providence City Councilor Helen Anthony, and Providence City Councilors Miguel Sanchez and Justin Roias have announced their endorsement of Sue AnderBois for RI Lieutenant Governor. Having worked with AnderBois in different capacities - on the Providence City Council, as RI’s Director of Food Strategy, as a trusted policy advocate – they have seen up close her bold leadership on big issues facing Rhode Island. During this time of unprecedented chaos and attacks on our communities and our future, these leaders trust Sue to stand up for Rhode Islanders and deliver.

“I am so grateful and proud to have the support of my amazing friends and colleagues, Aaron Regunberg, Helen Anthony, Miguel Sanchez, and Justin Roias,” said AnderBois. “These leaders have served our community at different capacities and in different neighborhoods and understand what it means to truly stand up for Rhode Islanders. We launched this campaign to bring real purpose to the LG’s office, to stand up and actually do something about issues facing Rhode Islanders - like rising energy bills from dirty fuels, out-of-control housing costs, government dysfunction, and constant threats to the environment that makes our state so special.  It is an honor these leaders, and so many more across the state, stand with me in this fight.”

Providence Councilman Miguel Sanchez, Ward 6 (Manton and Mount Pleasant Neighborhoods):

"I wholeheartedly support Sue's campaign for Lt. Governor. I've gotten to know Sue through our work on Council, and have seen her fight for our state and the people here. She doesn’t take no for an answer - she puts in the work to get things done right and brings people to the table. Sue always has your back - and while I will miss working with her on Council, I know she is the type of leader we need in the Lt. Governor's office fighting for all of us."

Helen Anthony, former Providence Councilwoman & Finance Committee Chair:

"Sue AnderBois is a talented leader, and I know she will be a great Lt. Governor. I was honored to serve alongside Sue on the Providence City Council, and I have seen her determination, intelligence and ethical leadership firsthand. She brings different groups together to take on big challenges and doesn't stop until she gets it over the finish line. Sue exudes positivity and hope, even when she is faced with conflict or complex budget negotiations. Rhode Island needs leaders like Sue AnderBois who will stand up for us and get things done."

Aaron Regunberg, former State Rep and prior candidate for Lt. Governor and Congress:

"As a former candidate for lieutenant governor, I've thought a lot about what could be done with that position. It can be an office for do-nothing officials to hang out in. It can be a stepping stone to slick, ambitious politicians who don't believe in much but their own advancement. Or it could fill the role of public advocate -- a voice for the people in the State House who so often don't get represented by the armies of corporate lobbyists that inhabit that place. Sue is the only person in this race who's running to be that kind of lieutenant governor -- someone who actually brings people together to take on special interests and get things done. That's what she's done for Providence on the Providence City Council, and it's what she could do for our whole state as lieutenant governor."

Providence Councilman Justin Roias, Ward 4 (Charles and Wanskuck Neighborhoods): “I wholeheartedly support Sue’s candidacy for Lt. Governor. As Sue’s seatmate on the Providence City Council, I have gotten to know her personally and a colleague.  What I admire most is her integrity and her deep sense of purpose. Sue has taught me profound lessons about government. She has a way of moving through this world that is both practical and principled. She’s taught me how responsible government isn’t about waiting for the perfect moment or policy – but about listening and learning and taking thoughtful action, and shaping results that are larger and lasting. Her approach isn’t to grandstand or be loud – it’s deliberate and it’s substantive. She is someone who is truly so selfless and genuinely so kind – and is so dedicated to improving people’s lives across this State – we would be lucky to have her as our next Lt. Governor.”
